W4elcome to HARDSCRABBLER! This site is devoted to learning the vocabulary of Scrabble. Learn words, score games, anagram words, and meet other people who are also trying to improve their Scrabble games. Right now we have tools to help you find anagrams, check the validity of words, and score a real-life scrabble game. In the coming weeks, we'll be adding various facilities:

  • Training and assessment.
    • We started this site a few weeks ago because it's the site that we want: a place to go to learn lots and lots of words, so that we can win at Scrabble. There are programs out there, but nothing that seems to be, err, 21st century. For our users, we will track how well that user knows every word in the dictionary. That way, you'll be practicing the words you don't know, not wasting time on the ones that you do. Getting good at Scrabble is more than knowing words, though. It's about pulling them out of racks, and knowing where to put them on the board. For this reason, much of our training will be oriented toward anagramming skills.
      We haven't started this yet, but soon!
  • More Game aids, including game clock and word checker, as well as scoring mechanisms.

    • Maybe you play lots of scrabble. You might use friendly rules, allowing lookups and undos (rather than challenges), or you might use tough rules with challenges and point penalties. Either way, we hope that our Score Pad will help you track your games and keep a historical record of all the games you've played. Right now you should be able to create and store many games, with a variety of rule conditions. You get an automatic scorepad and letter bag, and the ability to automatically check words and resolve challenges.

      • Collaborative dictionary
      • Timers
      • Comet-based board updates (trust us, it will be better!).
      • Search through old games for games with specific words played in them
